Although actually closer to the village of Wraxall and the town of Nailsea, Backwell appears to be named after the area it serves rather than its actual location. It serves the village of Backwell itself, Flax Bourton, parts of Nailsea and down the valley as far as Claverham and Yatton from a site on the side of Failand Hill on the north side of the valley. These areas find themselves screened from Mendip by Backwell hill and Dundry Hill. There are four pairs of crossed vertical transmit log periodics, with a horizontal receive log periodic pair pointing south east towards Mendip. |

the village on the left, both mid screen.

The photo is taken end-on, hence it appears
that there is only one mast
