Comments: Badachro is a relay of Eitshal

A ninety mile span of the north-west Scottish coast from Cape Wrath in the far north down almost as far as Applecross relies largely on the Eitshal transmitter on Lewis for TV reception. Gairlock is unlucky because it is screened from Eitshal and also from the nearer Skriaig transmitter on Skye, so across the bay from the village amongst the remote crofts of Badachro is a relay transmitter. The site has no road access, just steps cut into the hillside.

Graham's photo of the Badachro relay was one of the very first to appear on this site.

The relay serves the village of Gairloch on the coast of Wester Ross. Signals are derived from Eitshal.

We were told that NGW had applied for planning permission to replace the current wooden pole with a 15m steel lattice mast, but so far it hasn't happened...

I wonder if God lives in that hut with his cat?
