This is the link site used to feed the Beddgelert site, which cannot receive signals directly from any other station. It is about the most inaccessible site I have found south of the Scottish border - footpath access only, up hills and through bogs, though I did notice marks on the ground indicating that someone had been up there using a Quad-bike. Due to the remote location, there is no hope of a mains-electricity supply, so the site is powered by a combination of solar-power and wind generator. The sun doesn't always shine, but there is no shortage of wind up there. Despite the fact that it was designed solely to feed another station there is at least one farm in the locality using it as their preferred feed of domestic programmes rather than the main Beddgelert site itself. I'm reliably informed that despite the relatively short distance been the receive and transmit aerials the site is simply an active repeater, so its output channels are the same as those of its parent station Blaenplwyf. |
