The site is used to re-broadcast the commercial station North Norfolk Radio. The signals are received on 96.2 using a horizontal yagi and then re-broadcast on 103.2 using 2 vertical yagi aerials. The gain of these yagi's is believed to be around 6dB. The mast is attached to the side of a grain store, which is owned by the Holkham Estate and the Earl Of Leicester. I was very surprised to see that, unlike many other radio sites I have visited, this site does not appear to have any earth bonding on the aerials or copper screen of the co-axial cable. Whats even more worrying is that this site is at one of the highest points in the area (no Norfolk isn't flat - that's a total myth! The highest point in Norfolk is 105m above sea level, and is close to the West Runton TV relay mast site), and during stormy weather we get quite a few lightning strikes around this area! |
