Comments: Caergybi is a relay of Llanddona

Caergybi - known to the rest of the world as Holyhead.

Most viewers in Caergybi/Holyhead view Llanddona. However there is a small low-lying area of the town which suffers from the presence of the local aluminium smelting works, which presumably causes screening effects and reflections. This area is served by the relay.

As with one or two other stations in the published lists, the NGR for this station appears to be incorrect - SH247817 actually places you in the midst of a housing estate, from which domestic aerials are pointing north. However just 200m north of this point is the town's Fire Station, which possesses this interesting-looking practice tower.

Side view of the tower. This best shows the two horizontally polarised RBL aerials on Llanddona. It should have been possible to mount these aerials on the tower top, but possibly the position shown is providing some screening from unwanted reflections.

It looks like the rx aerials were previously mounted on the other side of the window. I wonder what happened?
