The Caerhendy relay is one I'd tried to track down twice before with no success, so I was happy it was third time lucky.
This site serves the small communtity of Caerhendy, which cannot recieve a signal from either Cwmafan or Mynnydd Emroch due to the terrain, It is the lowest power relay I've heard of at only 0.5W ERP, and it serves less than 50 households.
Although the weather wasn't exactly the best (60+ mph winds, and heavy rain!), I duly retrieved my camera from the back of the car and took some photos. (Oh, and that's not mist in the photos - it's horizontal rain...)
It's not surprising I missed it before, as it looks more like a self-help than a bona-fide TX site!
The aerials used are a standard yagi for RX, vertically polarised and on Cwnafan.
For TX a 3 dipole bow-tie style grid aerial and - unusually for a small relay - it's horizonally polarised.(As you can see in the pics the centre dipole is bent out of shape - presumably by the weather!)
