Cefn Du is a UHF link, not designed as a public UHF relay. It was brought into service to provide a useable feed of ITV1 from Moel-y-Parc to Conwy. The launch of digital terrestrial tv services meant that Conwy could no longer receive a clean off-air feed directly from Moel-y-Parc so this link station was established to provide a solution.
