This is the former BBC Cromer MF site at NGR TG105376, which is actually at at Hempstead near Holt, Norfolk.
In June 1951, the Postmaster-General announced plans for a low power station at Cromer, to improve Home Service coverage. The site would broadcast the London Home Service on 908kHz, although this later changed and the site transmitted the BBC's North Home Service on 692kHz (2kW) from some time in December 1953.
In the early-mid 1960s it appears the frequency changed to 1484kHz (2kW).
From 30-Sep-1967 the site transmitted BBC Radio 4 (Midlands) on 1484kHz, again at 2kW.
It appears, in September 1972, the site reverted back to it's former frequency (692kHz), and continued to broadcast BBC Radio 4 at 2kW.
In November 1978, it would appear the site was closed down, and the frequency was transferred to Postwick for BBC Radio 2. This said, I have heard that the station continued until around 1983 (Did it's frequency change again, to 1485kHz, with Radio 4 continuing...???).
From what the landowner told me the masts were dismantled about 20 years ago (circa 1987).
Above:The field where the former Cromer MF site used to be - there's nothing left now, apart from the odd copper wire which is polughed up now and again. However, old OS maps of the site do show two mast symbols.
Below: The poles now form supports for this farm building!
