Comments: Relay of Sutton Coldfield

Here are some pictures I took last August of the Earl Sterndale TV relay in West Derbyshire (very close to the Staffordshire border), roughly five miles SE of Buxton. This is a 40W relay of Sutton Coldfield, and serves the attractive and picturesque rural valley with its small number of isolated farms and homes, and the nearby small village of Earl Sterndale which lays in a dip behind the ridge on which the mast stands. The terrain is particularly hilly in this area, and I suspect you would be able to RX Sutton Coldfield direct very well on the hilltops but would have no chance down in the valley by the River Dove, some 120m below.

This site is shared with mobile 'phone operator Orange.
