Phonic FM went on air 15th February 2008 just one day after the first test transmissions.

The transmitter is situated on the roof of the Phoenix Arts Centre in the heart of Exeter city centre. There are two custom built studios in the basement.

Programme content is described as alternative, with a strong focus on local musical acts and events.
