Originally built to carry BBC 405-line Television, Forfar is a main BBC FM radio transmitter, located a few miles south-east of Forfar town centre, and five miles east of Angus.

As indicated by the site-plate, Forfar is also a NGW Maintenance Base (see last photo). The on-site engineers are responsible for maintaining their transmitters at surrounding sites including Angus, Durris & Craigkelly
