The Presteigne transmitter is just inside the English border and serves the small town of Presteigne in Powys.

This transmitter takes its feed from Ridge Hill in Herefordshire, as it is not possible to receive any Welsh transmitters in this area at all.

I did notice in Presteigne that a fair number of houses that have been recently built have installed high gain aerials and amps to receive the Ridge Hill transmitter, may be they wanted Ch5? I would imagine digital signals from Ridge Hill would be far to weak in Presteigne.

The area is very rural, surrounded by many hills and very picturesque.

Originally a BBC landlord site which entered service in 1991. DSO was on 6th and 20th April 2011. The original structure was a 17m lattice pole, but this was replaced with this square tower in February 2000.

A remnant of the original structure.
