THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

GRANTHAM

Photos by Dan Glover Page last updated: 2016-10-22

June 2015

Since Peter Bigwood's visit it seems the structure was used as a mobile phone site and subsequently vacated, leaving behind a couple of cabinets and supporting metalwork

Google Streetview (July 2009) shows mobile phone "sector" panels attached to the upper level of support metalwork. There were SHF point-to-point links underneath. The flat metal strips supported the feeders

The stays were possibly added to cope with the additional load on the structure which is now technically a mast, rather than a tower!

This much taller tower (non-broadcast) is just south of the site and also shows signs it may once have been "busier".

DAB for this area is transmitted from Grantham (Newgate Lane) about 5km to the north west. CR station Gravity FM uses a site at Springfield Road in central Grantham.
