New UHF Tx aerial - July 2019

For 700 MHz band clearance the UHF transmit aerial has been replaced at Ivybridge. The B700 channel changes were implemented on 10/4/2019. At the same time the three commercial multiplexes (Com 4 - 6), were added. Also observed are a change to the ILR (Heart FM) receive aerial.

The new wideband UHF transmit cylinder.

The ILR (Heart FM) transmit aerial comprising two, 2 element band II Yagis at right angles to each other. This arrangement radiates a directional circularly polarised signal. The dangling cable is hanging from the UHF corner reflector aerial above.

A single Marconi vertical band II dipole is the BBC National FM radio transmit aerial. A grey aerial against a grey tower on a grey day.

The ILR receive aerial pointing towards Kingsbridge. This has changed from vertical to horizontal polarisation with the relocation of the RBL source from Soar to Kingsbridge. By my calculation, this aerial should also have been repointed from a bearing of 152° to 140°.

Receive aerials for BBC FM radio and UHF TV pointing towards North Hessary Tor and Caradon Hill.

At the top of the smaller Airwave tower are the band III DAB dipoles.
