PYE GREEN (BT)

Photos by Mike Smith Page last updated: 2011-04-24

Pye Green

The BT tower at Pye Green, which carries ILR station "Signal 1" on 96.9MHz.

The horizontal Yagi may once have been used to receive the off-air signal from Alsagers Bank (and my still provide a stand-by feed) but these days the station has different jingles and a separate breakfast programme. The single slanted dipole provides the ILR 'mixed' polarised signal Stafford. It is not quite omnidirectional as the IBA map shows a reduction of signal to the south-east (before you ask - I can't find the map at the moment!).

BBC Radio Stoke's 104.1 service now comes from a site simply known as Stafford, and is on the roof of the County Education building in the town.
