QUAINTON HILL

Photos by Mike Smith and Peter Bigwood Page last updated: 2019-09-04

Earlier pictures

The tower at the top Quainton Hill is found after a short but pleasant walk along the North Buckinghamshire Way from the beautiful village of Quainton, north-west of Aylesbury. This tower is located at the Thames Water waterworks. Mix 96 launched on 15th April 1994.

The crossed four element band II Yagi aerials provide circular polarised signals on 96.2MHz for the ILR station Mix 96. The aerials can be seen clearly in the close-up shot, right at the top of the mast, and face south-east, providing good directional signals across Aylesbury and beyond.

[It looks to me like half of one of the vertical elements was missing at the time these photos were taken - mb]
