ENNISKILLEN

DAB added - April 2020

The BBC National DAB multiplex entered service at Enniskillen on the 29-Oct-2010.

Wide view showing one of the MF masts and a mobile phone tower, which also appears to carry the DAB antenna at the top.

The mobile phone tower with a band III colinear at the top for DAB transmit.

Closeup of one of the MF masts

The base of the MW mast has this cool spark gap which can be bridged, effectively shorting the mast to ground for work to be carried out safely

The transmitter building. Note the three satellite dishes. The large white dish provides the programme feeds for both DAB and the MF services. Both of the smaller dishes are probably used to receive an RBS from Astra 2. Also note the twin GPS receiver cones just above the two smaller dishes; These are used for the precise timing required by DAB transmitters

Rear view of transmitter building. Note the input socket by the door, presumably to power the facility from a generator in the event of a mains failure.

These two aerials are pointing towards Brougher Mountain, possibly for RBS purposes.
