THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

BEDDINGHAM

Photos by Paul Foley Page last updated: 2020-12-29

December 2020 - DAB removed and a view from the 80s.

With DAB switching sites to Newhaven the original dipoles and associated hardware have been removed.

I've also included an old photo taken around 1986 when the site was primarily VHF Emergency services with the addition of VHF paging at the top of each mast.

The sign on the equipment building still shows it is called 'Police radio site'

The SW corner of the west mast with the DAB array removed.

The equipment room that housed the DAB transmitter showing the chopped cables, even the cable trays have been removed.

A view from the mid 80s.

The left mast has the VHF yagis linking back to the Police headquarters in Lewes. Almost everything else will be the various transmit and receive aerials for the emergency service main schemes, Police on 155MHz, Ambulance on 166MHz and Fire on 70MHz.

On top of each mast are the dipole arrays for VHF paging, the source of much interference. Almost no UHF on either mast, no point to point dishes and definitely no mobile phone panels.
