SYMINGTON

Photos by Jack Richardson Page last updated: 2021-08-25

August 2021

Symington is more interesting than first seems. Until I took the photos I didn't know of the aerial array detailed on the previous page. It looks very well engineered, like something you’d find at Droitwich. The IBA must have gone to some trouble to do this.

[Ed.] These "Folded Umbrella" type of MF aerials were quite popular with the IBA for their second phase of ILR stations, having the advantage of being able to use a much shorter mast. They were also used at Breinton, Brundall, Cotheridge, Hadfield Road, Nigg, Rayleigh and Tarbat Ness.

Another look

The building looks a little large for one transmitter?

Since the previous photos it seems the car has gone.

This maybe used to receive a feed from DAB?
