NEWTON BARROW

Photos by Peter Bigwood Page last updated: 2014-08-09

Peter: These are interesting... there's some new stuff up on that mast!

Editor's note: Newton Barrow was a former "Home Office" site - with two towers. When BBC Wiltshire Sound launched on 4th April 1989, Salisbury was served by a 20W Tx from the Salisbury TV tower. This was transferred to a new higher powered Tx at this site in December 1991.

Radio Wiltshire Tx on this tower.

The Radio Wiltshire Tx array is at 35m and unusually, consists of 8 vertical folded dipoles. Two on each face of this square tower, to give an omni directional radiation pattern.
