BROUGHER MOUNTAIN B

Photos by Sam Reid Page last updated: 2011-05-02

Jan 2010 - pre DSO photos

Sam took these photos of the Brougher Mountain site in Jan 2010.

Lower down are the receive aerials. On the left twin UHF troughs and two vertical band II log periodics point towards Divis. On the right two vertically polarised UHF troughs point towards Strabane. Strabane was initially used as the RBL source for BBC 1 & 2. Divis was the RBS source, but because the frequency allocation was adjacent channels, it is likely that the metal plates visible above the troughs were an attempt at extra RF shielding. From 1991 the BBC1 & 2 programme feed was via a link station at Gortin Forest. The two SHF antennas at the bottom of this picture may well be pointing towards this link site.
