December 2016

According to Ofcom parameters, Glasgow Hilton went on air in January 2016. All services are transmitted at 300 watts, and share the same antennas. Confusingly the site is listed by Ofcom also as "Glasgow Central" and "Glasgow William Street".

This is one of those difficult sites where the building "hides" the installation and Alan comments that the photos were taken from a distance.

The Hilton is a 20-storey block close to the Clyde and M8 junction 19. DAB has been added to an existing mobile phone installation on the very top.

The DAB Framework Agreement document suggested an omnidirectional antenna however the installation uses a pair of dipoles.

Ofcom data shows maximum ERP on bearing 060 with the usual reduction of around 6 dB "behind the pole".

We understand the programme feed is by SHF link from Black Hill.
