Show historic services

October 2011

Short-lived CR station The Park was awarded a licence to serve the Brockenhurst area in September 2009 and went on-air from 21 March 2011. The Setley site disappeared from Ofcom data between May and June 2012, with no replacement.

The Ofcom coverage map suggests the service area included Brockenhurst and the adjacent area of the New Forest but possibly didn't give good coverage in the nearby towns of Lyndhurst and Lymington. Are some CR stations "too local" to succeed?

Known to Ofcom as "Setley" the site was in the pub car park...

...and comprised a Lindenblad array on a wooden pole, at 17 m above ground.

Unusually the equipment was in an outdoor cabinet and the pole seems to have been bolted to a concrete base rather than "planted" in the ground.

There is no "correct" way to photograph a Lindenblad. For a change here's the view from directly below.
