Iain says: Here is what I think must have been a self-help TV system on the Isle of Iona off the west coast of the Isle of Mull in Scotland.

The photos were taken in the early 2000s. With my pocket Casio TV I found group A, B and C/D channels at the site. The C/D channels would be incoming Glengorm as this was pre-DSO. Group A transmit channels were towards Fionnphort and the group B channels were beamed east along the coast toward Knockan on Mull and beyond.

Glengorm was quite strong on Iona but not anywhere else in the area. Torosay is screened by mountains so the group A channels would not be from there. So any other channels in the area apart from Glengorm must have been from this site.

It looked a robust setup. When I returned to Iona a few years later after DSO, all had gone. If anyone has any more information about this installation please get in touch.

See below map. Antenna A (rx) points north east. Antenna B (tx) points south east and antenna C (tx) points east.

A: incoming feed from Glengorm to RX antenna
B: transmit to Fionnphort (grp A)
C: transmit to Kintra/Creich and along the coast as far as Knockan/Torrans (grp B)
