WORCESTER (ELBURY PARK RESERVOIR)

March 2018 - New DTT transmitter in service

I took a trip up to Elbury Park in early March to have a look at the final arrangements. This site went into service on the 1st March 2018. The set-up is as described in the original planning documentation, with a pair of crossed vertical logs pointing at the city to the south of the site. The logs are on a pretty steep downwards tilt. There is also a new cabin with two GPS antennas on it, which presumably also houses the DTT equipment.

The BT trench that was dug in January made me think that the site was to be fibre fed, but there is a third horizontal log on the tower pointing at Sutton Coldfield. A check of the transmissions from the site shows that the digital streams are identical to Sutton Coldfield's. Presumably Ridge Hill's transmissions are now identical to Sutton Coldfield's as well to make this SFN possible? [Ed] mb21 understands that the Sutton Coldfield RBL is a temporary programme feed arrangement.

New green cabin with two GPS aerials for the SFN with Ridge Hill.

The intended coverage area is behind these trees directly in front of the mast.
