THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

SUTTON COLDFIELD

Photos by Alan Price Page last updated: 2016-09-17

Photos taken September 2016

All DAB comes from the interleaved national radio aerial.

I always had it in mind that the top 4 tiers of band II panels pointed south & west, but on closer inspection they point roughly south east & south west. For reference, the (now disused) DAB aerials below follow the points of a compass.

Note on the northern faces of the mast, there is only 1 tier of panels. All the West Midlands stations are nulled to the north.

The Birmingham local TV logs.

Anybody know what these are for? Looking at older photos they've been on the mast for a number of years.

If I have my directions correct, the bottom left yagi points towards Holme Moss, whereas the 2 on the right point towards Oxford, for RBS. The right 2 TV aerials point towards Waltham, but I'm not sure about the left pair - Winter Hill perhaps?

Pye Green 19 miles away.

Lichfield Cathedral, with the hills of the Peak District in the background.

Rugeley power station.
