BRETCH HILL

This is the low power UHF TV relay station of Sutton Coldfield for Banbury. Much of Banbury can receive signals from the main Oxford station at Beckley, and some can obtain reception from Sutton Coldfield, but there are large parts that rely on Bretch Hill, which is fed from Sutton Coldfield, for good reception.

Bretch Hill entered service on 9-Apr-1982 with Channel 4 available from the launch on 2-Nov-1982. The analogue channel allocation was a non-standard group of 65/48/55/67 at 87W ERP. The ERP of BBC2 was increased to 348W from 14-Sep-2000 as a consequence of DTT equalisation at Oxford.

Riggers were onsite installing Hutchison 3G equipment at the time these photographs were taken
