RUGELEY

Photos by Alan Price Page last updated: 2016-08-31

Photos taken August 2016

Rugeley was established in June 1991, to serve an area that is shielded directly from Sutton Coldfield. Waltham reception is possible, but this carries East Midlands variants of BBC/ITV Central, so wrong region for a West Midlands town!

I remember being told a story that when Rugeley A power station was demolished in 1995, TV reception got worse for some residents. Certainly this could be true, as the cooling towers could have been 'reflecting' the signal from Sutton Coldfield.

Not much change since Rob's photos. I don't think the dish has anything to do with the relay.

Only one of the houses directly behind the school seems to be using the relay, with most opting to use Sutton instead.

The other part of the coverage area, with the hills of Cannock Chase in the background. Sutton Coldfield lies behind the hills.
