WHALLEY

Photos by Paul Martin and Dan Glover Page last updated: 2014-07-17

Updated June 2012

Originally an IBA landlord site, TV channels 1 - 3 entered service on 28th March 1975, with Channel 4 from June 1985. DSO was on 4th November and 2nd December 2009.

BBC FM radio was added in September 1995.

Dan: " 'Update required: FM rx antenna' No, I couldn't see one either to start with. The weather was filthy, but having come this far thought I'd better do what I could.

Not much has changed since Paul's photo - still 2x2 panels and a trough for receive - but a VSAT dish has appeared at fairly high level and a new enclosure probably containing the DSO transposers. On Band II there's a single vertical dipole, as before."

Below the trough a VSAT dish and below that a glimpse of the Band II receive log

Whalley is an FM relay of Holme Moss...is that the right direction?
[Ed] The RBL source is Pendle Forest.

The green enclosure on the left is most likely new for DSO - note how the site is on a steep gradient
