August 2015: Cando FM

New Barrow community station Cando FM is due to start testing on 106.3MHz in October. Although there is a 2dB restriction required towards Chester (only over a 10 degree segment), a simple vertical end fed dipole was chosen (with a 2dB reduction in power, so it will be running at 16w ERP

The link from the studio is using 5GHz WiFi, with a small dish looking out through a hole in the parapet (out of view)

We understand the station will be based at Furness College and should become fully operational in November 2015

Simon commented that a colinear which was previously located above the logs has been removed at some point in the ten years since his previous visit to the site

The TV transmit log periodics - as noted previously the logs are crossed but also tilted downwards at a significant angle
