LLANFOIST

Photos by Ian Chalmers Page last updated: 2015-06-05

October 2007

Llanfoist, which is on the opposite side of Abergavenny to the village of Llanfoist.

It looks like the service area is intended to be Abergavenny itself as there are only 2 sets of panels targetted on the town. Due to the trees, I didn't get a decent pic of the RX aerial, but it looks like it's vertical, and the only reasonable source is Abergavenny, which is on a hill nearer Gilwern. (Who allocates these names?!)

What signage there is, is obviously a bit ancient, and I've included one sign that shows the inadvisability of using red for critical labels. Maybe whoever put the sign up originally thought that it would be refurbished at the same time as the tower was repainted.

Originally an IBA landlord site, TV channels 1 - 3 entered service on 14th July 1978, with S4C available from the launch on 1st November 1982. DSO was on 3rd and 31st March 2010.

Rx antenna.
