BRIGHSTONE

Photos by Martin Watkins and Mark Carver Page last updated: 2011-10-23

October 2011

A new rx trough has indeed appeared, in fulfillment of this planning notice, and it's designed to benefit from the vertical component only of Rowridge's post DSO transmissions.

.... and here it is, from the side, immediately above the older HP rx logs.

There seemed to be absolutely no line of sight to Rowridge, a screen of hills about a mile north of this site blocks the path. Needless to say Chillerton Down was clearly visible, although to be fair that is largely down to site position rather than the inadequacy of Rowridge's mast height.

Chillerton Down as seen from Brighstone.

Here's a shot of the Brightstone relay taken from Chillerton Down. It raises the question, was Chillerton Down ever considered as an alternative site for the relay, or as a mid point for the RBL link ?

We couldn't help feeling that "Danger of Death" was bordering on the over-dramatic....
