Comments: Wootton Courtenay is a relay of Mendip

Show historic services

This relay appears to have two RX aerials: a typical log-periodic, and a higher-gain yagi much lower down the tower, perhaps only 3 or 4 metres agl. They both point to Mendip.

Wootton Courtenay was originally a BBC landlord site which entered service on 8-Oct-1982 to serve 720 people. Channel 4 was available from the launch on 2-Nov-1982. DSO was on 24th March and 7th April 2010.

[Ed] This Yagi is the main RBL receive aerial, low down to screen from possible tidal fading as the path to Mendip crosses the River Parrett estuary into the Bristol Channel. The log higher up is used when the hedge gets too tall and requires trimming.
