THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

NORWICH (CENTRAL)

Photos by Martin Brown Page last updated: 2016-10-02

September 2016

There have been several changes at Norwich Central since the earlier pictures. The bow tie cardioid UHF transmit aerial has been replaced, DAB aerials have been added and the fire at the site on 23rd July 2016.

Norfolk DAB entered service on 31st March 2016.

The fire damage is evident to the side of the grey metal cabin and the guttering on the end garage.

I was surprised at how much rotational twisting there was to the top part of this tower in what was only a moderate breeze. I suspect that this is due to the amount of mechanical leverage exerted by the top set of mobile phone panels.

The new cardioid UHF transmit aerial. An RFS 4UD model. Faces southwest.

Two 5 element band III Yagis for DAB transmit partly hidden by the mobile phone panel aerials. These are pointing roughly northeast and southwest.

The DAB aerials from another angle.

Lots of temporary containers on this site following the fire.
