THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

LLWYN ONN

Photos by Martin Brown Page last updated: 2016-08-21

In more detail - August 2016

The main purpose of Llwyn Onn is to provide the programme feeds to Dolgellau. Consequently both TV and FM radio transmissions are directional to the east along the Mawddach estuary.

If anyone visits this site in the future, there is a free car park on the single track road up from Barmouth Bridge at NGR SH625165. From there it is about a 20 minute walk. 10 minutes up the road, then another 10 minutes up a footpath, which can be a bit wet.

UHF transmit. Directional to the east.

A single Marconi dipole for FM radio transmit.

Three UHF log periodics to receive the programme feed from Presely. Probably the two on the right are the main Rx pair, the other one on the left being a reserve.

Two band II log periodics for FM radio receive from Blaenplwyf.
