Comments: Tregynon was originally a relay of Blaenplwyf (via Llangurig Link and Long Mountain). It still relays Long Mountain, but the latter is now line fed.

May 2006

Tregynon. A small rural station about 5km north of Newtown, Powys. Although near the top of a hill, it is not particularly easy to photograph since it is constructed up against a belt of trees, which mask proper views.

The station in fact provides coverage to a number of villages: not only Tregynon, but also Bettws Cedewain, and coverage seems to extend at least as far north as New Mills. A fair number of isolated farms and houses also use the relay, since the local valleys are shielded from the more obvious candidates, Long Mountain and Llandinam.

Originally an IBA landlord site, Tregynon entered service on 28th February 1985.

Vertical RBL log on Long Mountain.

It's not clear who the other user is at this site but their
incoming line termination does not look exactly weatherproof!
