Comments: St. Bees is a relay of Caldbeck (via Whitehaven). Pre B700 allocations: 49/54/58.

The St Bees site is on a golf course, and these pictures were taken with golf balls whizzing past my ears!

The town is on a sheltered bay, and is screened from the nearby Whitehaven mast, and from Caldbeck/Sandale. Post-DSO St Bees site relays Caldbeck via Whitehaven. Where we parked, near to the St Bees mast but the other side of a hotel building, the best reception was from Northern Ireland and North Wales! We also had a signal on ch59 from the Republic. Manx Radio was the best FM signal.

St. Bees was originally an IBA landlord site which entered service in March 1981. Channel 4 was added in December 1984.
