Comments: Relay of Crystal Palace

Photos by David Neale

Hemel Hempstead is one of the high power (10kW ERP) relays of Crystal Palace whose analogue services cover a surprisingly wide area.

This is a BT mast now used for site shares. The two sets of vertical trough antennas at the mast top are the transmitting aerials. This is quite a rare setup as the only other sites we know of like this are in South Wales. The other tower is a Hertfordshire police tower now owned by Gridcom.

The mast is clearly visible from the M25
