The Hereford TV relay - located at Dinedor Camp, which appears to be a youth hostel centre. The mast is a simple telegraph pole, which supports a rather impressive array of logs- it's interesting how the two sides are unequal - 6 logs on one side, just two on the other. The transmitter hut is solidly built too. In former times Hereford also provided a relay of BBC national FM radio on 89.7 / 91.9 / 94.1 but this service became redundant when FM radio came to Ridge Hill and was discontinued. The Band II aerials remain here and can be seen mounted on a second pole. It made a nice change to have the sun on my side for once, and the view across Hereford was breathtaking... |
