Killowen Mountain, which sits at the top of Slieve Martin, high above Rostrevor (not far from the Rostrevor Forest transmitter.) The RTE site at Clermont Cairn is also visable from here, sitting just across Carlingford Lough. Killowen Mountain is an active reflector, which means it rebroadcasts its parent station (in this case Divis) on the same channel allocations. This is why the receive and transmit aerials (both trough types) are mounted a short distance apart on separate structures. It seems that the main purpose of this site is to provide a useable feed to the Kilkeel relay. It was a beautiful clear day until I reached the summit so please forgive the amount of cloud cover. |

There are also two other mass at this site, the largest of these, built recently, has no antennas fitted yet.
The smaller mast seems to carry the usual array of mobile phone equipment.

Republic on the right.)
