Llandinam serves Newtown with a 0.02 kW VHF FM relay of BBC network radio and a 0.25 kW relay of UHF analogue television. |

Mid-view of the two main masts. the one on the right is the 'broadcast' mast - has analogue tv tx at top (shrouded cardioid), rather further down there are two horizontal log band II aerials, one pointed at Newtown and the other up towards Carno. The other mast is a slight mystery in broadcast terms - the gear at the top looks for all the world like a band II tier of square-loop dipoles, but is it? what's it used for - has it replaced the band II logs on the other mast, or is it some new ILR setup? Can't find any info.

This is a little weird. there's this group of four toed-in logs pointing in exactly the same direction as the main TV RBL aerials on the main mast (pointing at Long Mountain) - but they're situated on a low wooden pole about 100yds from the site. there's a waterproof box on the pole - filter, or more likely mast-head preamp to make up for the feeder loss in the run back to the main building. so what's been going on here? is one (or more) of the TV RBL channels on the main mast subject to some interference from another service that they can't get rid of any other way? I dunno. It's odd.
