The Lydgate relay serves a very small area between Todmorden and Cornholme in upper Calderdale, West Yorkshire.
It was quite difficult to find as the grid reference I had appeared to be incorrect, actually referencing the site of a recently demolished factory. In fact the relay was originally sited at the Volex Wiring Systems mill which now appears to have been demolished. The site is now rather higher up which allows it to receive its feed from Todmorden.
The site was featured on BBC Watchdog a couple of years back. The original site was dismantled due to vandalism, and a problem with the electricity supply? The transmitter was out of action for about a year.
Photo 1 shows the mast and photo 2 shows the receive and broadcast aerials a little more closely, the receiving aerial being the higher of the two.
