Comments: Orpington is a relay of Crystal Palace

I've een meaning to bag this one a while. I live 7 miles away but can still get a faint signal (it's only 13W but quite high up).

It was built about 15 years ago to cover a hole in the coverage of Crystal Palace (mostly on the downside of a railway embankment). Many of the older aerials I saw were truly huge with quite a few pointing towards Sudbury (some 55 miles away)!

The mast itself is inside waterboard land. The man on the gate was quite helpful but said "sorry I can't let you in", hence only a waterboard site sign! You can see the recieve aerial easily enougth near the top of the mast. We went round to the side of the site afterwards and I think you can just about see the broadcast aerials.

A UHF yagi has appeared here. I wonder what it's pointing at?
