Comments: Parbold is a relay of Winter Hill

Here are two evening shots of the BBC’s Parbold relay, taken on April 10, 1981, when I was living in Southport. The relay covers the village of Parbold, roughly halfway between Wigan and Ormskirk. Nearby Parbold Hill prevents direct reception of the Winter Hill transmitters. The tower is located 1 mile west of the village, adjacent to a sewage works.
