Comments: Penaligon Downs is a TV relay of Caradon Hill

Most sites are named after the village or town to which they provide a service - in this case, Bodmin - but this site is named after the remote and inaccessible area of upland on which it is situated. This may be to distinguish it from the nearby MF station or because the service are also extends northwards as far as Camelford and Wadebridge.
