As we continue to take you to the places other sites do not reach, here are some pictures of one of Keelylang Hill's two Orkney relay stations, taken in June 2004. The Station is only a few minutes walk from the harbour and ferry terminal on Westray, one of the northernmost islands of the group. Some hills in the South of Westray screen this area from Keelylang Hill.
The close ups are a little dull as they were taken at about 5am; the skipper said we must sail at 6am for the tide.
I believe the station was rebuilt with bigger tower later in 2004, and may now have a less rural and more industrial appearance!

Since those photos were taken the Pierowall has become a shared site and the tower has been upgraded.
The next five shots were taken by Nigel and Anne Coote in July 2009...

The final photo shows the area illuminated by the Pierowal relay.
