Comments: Portreath is a relay of Redruth

Mark took this photo of the relay in April 1983, when it was only 3 months old, so he wondered, perhaps, as with many like this, has it since been replaced by a GSM telco's lattice steel tower?

It has...


The rx log is not mounted higher than it needs to be!

Since taking the above photos a couple of years ago, in 2007, things have changed again at this relay...

Again we see the addition of a satellite dish for telemetry transmission.

Things seem to be different on the ground too...

... though the changes are not immediately obvious.

Very little signal from Redruth makes it into the valley in which Portreath sits so the relay is well used throughout the village and as far inland as Bridge.

The last two shots show the parent station from the relay...
