Comments: Used to transmit R Nan Gaidheal on 990 kHz, closed 23rd Nov 2015. Transmitted Absolute Radio on 1215 kHz until mid May 2018. ILR (106.3 MHz) moved to Balgownie late autumn 2018. Transmitted Talk Sport on 1089 kHz until Feb 2020.

As well as transmitting Virgin, Radio 5 Live and Radio Scotland, Redmoss (Aberdeen) also relays the Radio 4 Long Wave service at 2kw on 1449kHz to cover the interference zone in the overlap of the Westerglen and Burghead 198kHz service areas.

This is a busy medium wave site – no less than 6 services broadcast from here,  all of them BBC up until the early ‘90’s.

There are four masts and one self supporting tower at this site – the tower holds the usual array of mobile ‘phone antennas and may also be home to the FM tx antenna of a low powered relay for Original 106 but my visit was before that station went on air, so I wasn’t looking!
