Comments: Relay of Winter Hill

The Urswick TV relay serves the village of Great Urswick in Cumbria, which is screened from Winter Hill by some high ground called Birkrigg Common. The transmitter is to the south west of the village, at Little Urswick.

The view of the village is looking north east from the mast.

The equipment cabin for this relay is quite hard to spot, there is an electricity supply on poles which gets almost to the mast before going underground. I found the cabin hidden by trees at the foot of a small cliff directly below the mast (behind the house in the more distant view).

The photo of the other mast is Morecambe Bay viewed from Urswick.
