Comments:

These are pictures of the Varteg Hill VHF relay. This serve the town of Ystradgynlais and the villages of Crynant, Seven Sisters, Cwmllynfell and Ystalyfera. The VHF signals can be received well into the Brecon Beacons, presumably due to the site's altitude.

Varteg Hill receives its feed from Carmel, which in turn receives it's feed from Wenvoe. Growing up in Crynant I vividly remember varteg Hill being one of the last sites to have Radio 1 added (28-Aug-1993), putting an end to years of listening via weak and crackly signals from Wenvoe (and later Kilvey Hill which started Radio 1 broadcasts on 18-Dec-1992)!
